Richard Holbrooke, special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, met with President Asif Ali Zardari and assured that the US would fully cooperate with Pakistan in war against terrorism and rehabilitation of IDPs. Energy sector along with other wide-ranging areas were also discussed in the meeting in New York. On this occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari said that Pakistan would play frontline role in war against terror; however, this was the war of Pakistan's own survival. He stressed that Pakistan wanted aid instead of trade. US and Europe should open their markets for Pakistani products while Friends of Pakistan should fulfill their aid promises, Zardari insisted. He demanded that US Congress should approve Kerry-Lugar Bill as soon as possible. Holbrooke lauded Pakistans role in war on terror in the meeting and said that Pak army gained a lot of successes with peoples support. He assured that US would leave no stone unturned for Pakistans economic progress and rehabilitation of IDPs.
