Summary
The Obama Administration has said that A Q Khan remains a nuclear proliferation concern and US is in constant contact with Pakistani authorities in this regard. We have said consistently that we have true concerns regarding Mr A Q Khan and we believe that he remains a risk for proliferation, the State Department spokesman, Ian Kelly, told reporters on Tuesday at his daily press briefing. Pakistan is determined to eliminate extremist groups from within its territories, he said. We applaud this determination that they have expressed to deal with these militants who not only threaten our security, as we have seen in terrorist incidents and plots in the past, but also threatens the democracy of Pakistan, he said. Reiterating that the US will work together with Pakistan to defeat extremism, Kelly said: We have offered them some very concrete assistance, and we look forward to continue this support.
