The Federal Cabinet has approved new education policy during a meeting chaired by PM Gilani on Wednesday. Earlier, federal ministers were stopped from entering into Cabinet Hall due to security concerns. The meeting was shifted to Parliament House but after the complete checking of the PM Secretariat, the meeting started at the secretariat as per schedule. Prime Minster Yousaf Raza Gilani had convened the special meeting of the Federal Cabinet. Chief Ministers of Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan participated in the meeting. According to sources, law and order situation, sugar crisis, war on terror, return of Malakand IDPs and other issues were discussed in the meeting. Sources disclosed that the Federal Cabinet approved new education policy in the meeting. It was suggested during the meeting to establish uniform education system across the country. It was decided to enhance relations with donor agencies and NGOs to increase the literacy rate. Federal ministers from tribal areas boycotted the meeting against army operations in Khyber and other agencies.
