Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) came to power after rendering sacrifices, adding that they did not compromise for anything and the public was aware of the hurdles involved in governments way. The government can not generate electricity overnight however poor people will be provided 200 units of free electricity, the premiere said. Addressing an Iftaar dinner at Governor House Karachi, he maintained that the PPP promoted the politics of reconciliation. We have formed the government with our allies in centre and in the provinces whereas I had issued release of higher judiciary for the very first time, he added. Gilani said that they wanted to establish balance of power through constitution, adding that they had opposed 17th amendment in the past and they still did. A strategy is being formed for constitutional amendments whereas we have fulfilled the promise of giving sovereignty to the northern areas and now talks are underway for rights of provinces, he added. Commenting on military operation he praised the army for completing it in 8 weeks whereas he saluted the martyred personnel. PM Gilani vowed to reconstruct Swat and Malakand areas.
