Authorities concerned have beefed up the security of Islamabad including the Polyclinic Hospital to red alert after the murder attempt on Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi yesterday. The checking of the suspected people and vehicles is strictly being carried out on the check posts and a case against unidentified people has also been registered under murder and terrorism clauses in Abpara Police Station. Kazmi was attacked by unidentified armed men yesterday when he was on his way to home. A bullet hit his left leg which was removed after the operation and Kazmi was said to be out of danger. Kazmi is affiliated to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and is considered as an important member of the party. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and other ministers strongly condemned the attack and termed it deplorable. Interior Minister Rehman Malik termed the attack as target killing and ordered an inquiry into the incident. Health Minister Ijaz Jhakrani said that lives of all the ministers were in danger but this situation would be faced courageously.
