Summary Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has said Islamabad export processing zone will be established soon.
It aims at attracting foreign investors, said Deputy Prime Minister.Talking to a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) he said establishment of export processing zone will also bring in technology and know-how in addition to foreign exchange.A delegation of ICCI Friday called on Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi at his residence congratulating him on his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister.Executive Member and former President ICCI, Munawar Mughal led the delegation.During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister, Pervaiz Elahi appreciated the role the business community has always played in progress and prosperity of the country.He claimed that various gas industrial estates and export processing zones were working efficiently which were established during their tenure.He vowed to call a meeting of all stakeholders and business leaders to discuss core issues faced by trade and industry to solve them on priority basis.He also accepted the invitation of visiting Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.Speaking on the occasion, former President ICCI, Munawar Mughal appreciated the efforts of the government for initiating various development projects in the country during its tenure.He noted that our country is confronted with an acute energy crisis, which is taking a heavy toll on economy.The government should reshape its policy of power loadshedding and provide a chance to industry to flourish as local industrial units which are running far below the required level due to growing power outages, he maintained.Munawar Mughal also emphasized upon establishing Islamabad export processing zone so that the countrys exports could be increased, which would enhance foreign exchange.Several other representatives of ICCI comprised the delegation.
