The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, issued its detailed order in the case againstNA Speaker’s ruling over the reference against former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.On June 19, the court had declared Yousaf Raza Gilani ineligible to hold office, adding that he had been disqualified since April 26.The 42-page verdict written in Urdu highlighted the reasons of Yousuf Raza Gilani’s disqualification, stating that that Gilani did not appeal against his conviction in contempt case.It was also stated that former premier’s counsel Aitzaz Ahsan failed to convince the court that how a convicted person can perform his duties as a prime minister of the country.Speaker National Assembly Fehmida Mirza should have forwarded the matter to the Election Commission of Pakistan, instead of issuing another ruling, Supreme Court mentioned.
