Pakistan has cast doubts on the news of Hakeemullah Mehsud being elected as the new chief of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) after the death of Baitullah Mehsud. Addressing a press conference in Istanbul, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi maintained that TTP was disunited and Taliban had bifurcated into 13 factions. He believed that clashes to elect the new Taliban leader still existed in the TTP and no final decision of Taliban leadership was made. Many claimants of Taliban leadership exist but no new leader is chosen yet, Qureshi revealed. He added, We will have to see who takes the leadership of Taliban. He opined that Taliban would never be able to unite as they used to be in the past, adding that internal clashes among the Talibans queues were prominent.
