President Asif Ali Zardari today left Guangzhou for Islamabad after a four day visit to China during which he witnessed signing of eight Memoranda of Understanding between the two countries. President Zardari visited Chinas two most prosperous and models of economic development provinces of Zhejiang and Guangdong and held a series of meetings with Chinas business and industrial giants besides presiding over two business forums with Chinese entrepreneurs. The President invited a Chinese firm to visit Pakistan for coal gasification in Sindh and met Chinese Foreign Minister to discuss a host of bilateral, regional and international issues. The Chinese Foreign Minister assured President Zardari that China will do everything possible to further the cooperative agreements that had been identified during the visit and for which memoranda of understanding had been signed. He said that President Zardaris visit had given a pragmatic push to the cooperative agreements between the two countries. The Chinese Foreign Minister also said that the international community should show understanding to Pakistans need for civilian nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, adding that China supports Pakistans call for peaceful nuclear cooperation. He described the relations with Pakistan as strategic and said that China attached great importance to further enhancing the strategic partnership. Talking to journalists spokesperson to the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar said the centerpiece of the Presidents visit were the memoranda of understanding signed particularly the one relating to the building of 7,000 MW hydro power in Bunji in the Northern Areas. The project will be built on BOOT (build, operate, own and transfer) basis with total foreign investment.
