Summary NA Speaker had refused to forward reference against PM Gilani following his conviction by SC.
Talking to the media in Islamabad on Wednesday‚ Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza said that she has not received any notice from Supreme Court over the ruling regarding not forwarding disqualification reference against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to the Election Commission.The speaker said that she is the elected speaker and deserves respect of all including the elected representatives.Earlier on Monday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) filed two separate petitions in the Supreme Court challenging NA Speaker’s refusal to forward a disqualification reference against the prime minister to the Election Commission of Pakistan, a month after the apex court convicted him in contempt case.
