Summary CJ said there is a need to increase strength of judges in order to protect the basic human rights.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry chaired a meeting of Law and Justice Commission in Islamabad on Saturday.The chief justices of Federal Shariat Court and High Courts‚ Secretary Law Yasmin Abbassi and Attorney General Irfan Qadir attended the meeting.During meeting, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry stressed the need for making necessary amendments in the law to meet present needs.The Chief Justice said provision of justice is the collective responsibility of the judiciary and the state. He said there is a need to increase the strength of judges in order to protect the fundamental human rights. The Chief Justice said all the institutions must abide by the constitution as deviation from it will badly affect the system. He said a strong judicial system is imperative for a sustainable democratic set up.
