Punjab government has informed the court about the closure of New Murree project. The government said that the New Murree Development Authority was also dissolved, adding that the project was dangerous for the environment. In his remarks, Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday said ordinances had been issued here overnight. A 13-member Large Bench chaired by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary heard the Suo Moto case. The Supreme Court in its remarks said projects like New Murree are threat for environment. The government had not taken NOC from the Forest Department. The court summoned the Environment DG and Secretary on July 30 to assure that such projects which were harmful for the environment would not be started in Murree again.
