Bollywood celebrities will join the Academy with international stars

(Web Desk) - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Ram Charan to join as new members.

The Academy has released a list of invites that includes 398 new members from around the world.

The list includes some other Bollywood celebrities too. Indian celebrities like RRR actor Jr NTR, director Mani Ratnam, Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani and Natu Natu lyricist Chandrabose, Siddharth Roy Kapur, filmmaker Chaitanya Tamhane are included in the list.

Academy President Janet Yang and CEO Bill Kramer said while revealing the names of new members that the Academy is proud to welcome these artists and professionals into our membership.

The Bollywood celebrities will join the Academy with international stars including Austin Butler, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Ke Huy Qwan, and others.

“They all represent extraordinary global talent across cinematic disciplines, and have made a vital impact on the arts and sciences of motion pictures and on movie fans worldwide,” Academy President Janet Yang said.

The new members have been selected on the basis of a criteria which revolves around the professional qualification and commitment to representation and equity.
