Chopra spoke bluntly about the problems in a correspondent interview. She is a part of the BBC’s 100 Women list of influential figures for the year. The actress said that Bollywood has “significantly large” wage parity. She continued by pointing out that “Even now, many female celebrities make less money than their male co-stars”. She also recalled earning just 10% of her male co-star’s salary.

The actress continued by saying that she was made to wait on the sets for hours while the male superstar arrived for the shoot at his own pace.

Priyanka about confronting colorism

The "Fashion" star further said that “I was referred to as “black cat” and “dusky.” In a nation where we are essentially all brown, what does the term “dusky” even mean? Even though I believed I was probably a little bit more gifted than my other actors who had lighter complexion, I felt that I was not attractive enough and that I would need to work much more than them. But because it was so common, I believed that it was true.”
