49 Bollywood celebs pen open letter to Modi to end Muslim lynching
An open letter dated July 23 was sent to PM Modi asking for his intervention and stern action
(Web Desk) – Bollywood celebs have spoken up against communal violence and lynching incidents against Muslims and other minorities in India.
According to media reports, an open letter dated July 23, was sent to PM Modi asking for his intervention and stern action against the perpetrators of such heinous crimes happening all over India without any check and balance.
Singer Shubha Mudgal, actor Konkona Sen Sharma and filmmaker asked for ‘exemplary punishment’ that too in a swift manner to ensure protection of minorities. Others including Adoor Gopalkrishnan, Mani Ratnam, Anurag Kashyap, Binayak Sen, Soumitro Chatterjee, Aparna Sen, Konkana Sen Sharma, Revathy, Shyam Benegal, Shubha Mudgal, Rupam Islam, Anupam Roy, Parambrata, Riddhi Sen are among the many celebs that are signatories of the letter.

Times Now reported, Subha Mudgal stated that she has always been against mob violence and has in the past supported and endorsed movies based on such incidents like ‘Amu’ made on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. She also mentioned the instrumental role that actor-director Aparna Sen played in reaching out to the big wigs of Bollywood about the open letter.
