A troll implied that artists are promoting their own agendas

(Web Desk) – The leading lady of Pakistan film industry Mahira Khan slammed a troll for insinuating that the showbiz industry is somehow responsible for criminal acts of child molestation and rape.

A troll through his tweet implied that the artists speaking out for justice for Farishta, a 10-year-old girl who was raped and murdered in Islamabad, are forwarding their own agendas.

‘People of showbiz need to stop using rape cases to promote their agenda. The vulgarity you promote is a major reason why rapes are on the rise. So please back off @TheMahiraKhan @ShehzadRoy @zebabakhtiyar #JusticeForFarishta @OfficialHanzala #Justice4Farishta #Farishta,’ he added.

Furious over the tweet, Mahira Khan responded.

‘Really? The ‘vulgarity’ causes someone to go rape a 10 year oldand then kill her? Get a grip. It’s the mindset! It’s the shame associated with it. And no I will not back off. My voice. My life. I will do whatever I want with it.,’ she added

Earlier the actress in a press conference talked about the taboo issue, emphasizing the need to raise awareness and teach children and parents about child abuse, in the wake of such criminal acts happening in our society one after another.

‘Since the Zainab case in 2018 the abuse cases should’ve lessened as there was an outcry at the incident in the society. There wasn’t a single person who didn’t protest whether taking outside to the streets or talking about the issue in their drawing rooms,’ she added.

Mahira talked about the shame attached to the reporting of such cases that parents are made to feel by society itself. She stressed on the need for preventive measures as the cases like ‘Farishta,’ unfortunately occur in every corner of the world.

‘There is something called Life Skills Based Education (LSBE) to make children aware of the difference between good touch and bad touch so that they can come forward and inform parents in the event of any such abuse.’

Mahira Khan pointed out that parents need to be made aware and the shame and stigma needs to be detached from these criminal acts so that children can be made safe.

She pleaded to the masses to not hush down such incidents but report them and get the culprits punished.
