Do away with the crime not the criminal: Reema Khan
The socio-economic reasons that lead to the offence need to be eliminated.
(Web-Desk)- Reema Khan while distributing sewing machines to female prisoners on Monday Jan 7 appreciated the reforms carried out by the interior ministry and by IG Jails in order to rehabilitate the women inmates, imparting the necessary skills to ensure sound living on completion of jail sentence.
In her visit to jails in Punjab, she was overwhelmed by the commendable steps taken up by IG jail to make the inmates constructive members of the society by providing them ample opportunities to learn, develop the much needed skills and training to earn a respectful earning once out.
Crime reduction efforts similar to the developed world are important. The socio-economic reasons that lead to the offence need to be eliminated, “Instead of physically killing the offender we need to eradicate the crime from the inside” she said.
Reema Khan witnessed practical steps being taken to reintegrate the individuals involved in criminal activities.
