(Reuters) - The famous Australian actor Hugh Jackman said he resonates with his new character as a politician on the pressure and level of scrutiny placed on public figures in a recent interview with China Movie Channel.
Jackman is best-known for his character as Wolverine whose journey ended in the 2017 film Logan.
After playing this character for 17 years, Jackman says he is proud of his days as Wolverine but does not miss it for the difficulties of portraying the character, such as waking up at 4:30 in the morning and eating only chicken breast and broccoli for years.
Although Wolverine’s journey has ended, Jackman’s continues.
He starred in a biographical film named The Front Runner this year. It chronicles the rise of the U.S. Senator Gary Hart, a Democratic presidential candidate in 1988, and his subsequent fall from grace when media reports surfaced of his extramarital affair.
Also as a celebrity, Jackman resonates with the character he starred in the movie on the pressure and scrutiny placed on public figures.
"I think when I first began I just shoot from the hip and say things and then realize actually I am talking about things [that] I should ask other people if I should say that or not. I think it took me a little while to understand what to say in all the different situations and I make a lot of mistakes. But if you are a politician and you make a mistake, which happens all the time, that is the first story on the news that night," said Jackman.
He also shared how he handles the pressure after he rises to stardom in the interview.
"Now I just really try to see it for what it is. It has some moments of being uncomfortable but not that many, and I try to not let it bother me. I have incredible opportunities as an actor to work with amazing people. If occasionally there is going to be a traffic jam doesn’t mean I’m not going to get in the car," said Jackman.
