If I were from Pakistan at least I would get offers from India.

(Web-Desk)-Sonu Nigam the veteran Bollywood singer who ruled the chords from 2003-2006 isn’t new at stirring up controversies having expressed resentment in the past about the music industry. Once again has managed to ignite a heated debate.

With music career spread over a span of two decades the 45 yrs. old singer made a snide comment about Pakistani singers at the Agenda Aaj Tak summit, scornfully stating "Sometimes, I feel as if it would have been better if I were from Pakistan. At least I would get offers from India," he said.

The Kal ho na ho singer blames the music industry of maltreatment of the homegrown talent who have to pay for their shows whilst singers from Pakistan don’t. "Nowadays, singers have to pay music companies for shows. If we don’t shell out the money, they will play songs sung by other singers and highlight them. Then, they will take money from them," he claimed.

Why single out Indian singers? They don’t do the same with Pakistani singers. Atif Aslam is a very close friend of mine. He is never asked to pay to sing at shows, neither is Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, he further added.

Sonu Nigam was also not happy with the remixes coming out these days. "Earlier, composers, lyricists and singers created a song. Now, music companies have taken over that job," he said.

The singer’s tweets last year on use of loudspeakers for azaan created an uproar for which he later on apologized.
