Lady Gaga dazzles as director Bradley Cooper wins award
The singer turned actress posed for pictures and chatted to the press.
(Reuters) - There were plenty of flashes as Lady Gaga turned out to support her co-star and director Bradley Cooper, as he was honoured with the American Cinematheque Award in Beverly Hills on Thursday (November 29).
The singer turned actress posed for pictures and chatted to the press at the prestigious event which every year honors ‘‘an extraordinary artist in the entertainment industry currently making a significant contribution to the Art of the Moving Picture.’’
Cooper who is currently winning praise for his directorial debut ‘A Star is Born’’ said when he was starting out in his career there was ‘‘no way I ever thought I’d be here right here, right now.’’
As well as picking up the American Cinematheque prize, his film is getting plenty of awards season buzz, but Cooper said he’s not thinking abiout that:
"No, not really. I’m thinking about what’s happening and I feel very relieved of what’s happening and people seem to be receiving it well and I get to spend time with Sam and Lady Gaga at these Q and A’s. I enjoy doing that."
His co-star and lead actress Lady Gaga was full of praise, speaking of what great friends she and Cooper have become and the atmosphere he created on set: ‘‘He created a sanctuary of trust for making art. It felt real, it was honest and he settled for nothing less and he was relentless in his pursuit of the truth and it’s what we all dream of," she said.
Cooper joins other winners including Eddie Murphy, Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott, who have been honored in the past 32 years.
Meanwhile the first major award season nominations the Golden Globes will be revealed on December 6.
