The alleged smuggler tried to commit suicide by drinking phenyl in the jail

(Web Desk) – Former Indian model and air hostess Sangeeta Chatterjee has survived suicide attempt in Jail. She tried to kill herself by drinking phenyl kept in the toilet for cleaning.

The model was jailed in red sanders smuggling case. It is assumed that she attempted suicide in sheer disappointment over not getting bailed out. After consuming phenyl, her condition deteriorated and she was rushed to the hospital. Sangeeta has recovered the damage and is now receiving medical treatment.

She was arrested in 2014 over smuggling charges being the second wife of red sanders smuggler M. Lakshman. The 26-year-old was proven guilty of illegal activities after she left modeling and came in Lakshman’s contact.

Sangeeta is accused of looking after Lakshman’s business after he was arrested. The couple was jailed for smuggling items in China, Japan and India.
