(Web Desk) - Prince William and Prince Harry reminiscence about their childhood and fondly remember their mother, Princess Diana, in an upcoming documentary.

In a recent trailer released, the two joke about the princess being “one of the naughtiest parents” in the documentary titled "Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy". Prince William, who is now a father of two children, George and Charlotte, said: “She was very informal and really enjoyed the laughter and the fun.” He added that “she understood that there was a real life outside of Palace walls.”

The documentary features a candid interview of the two brothers to honour Diana on her 20th death anniversary.

Executive producer Nick Kent added: This film will show Princess Diana in a way she has never been seen before, through the eyes of the two people who knew her best, Evening Standard reported.

Both princes share their views on how their mother influenced their lives while sharing some of the most meaningful and loving moments from the time they spent with her. “She was our mum. She still is our mum. And of course, as a son I would say this, she was the best mum in the world. She smothered us with love, that’s for sure,” Prince Harry said in a promotional clip released ahead of the documentary’s release.

The two princes take a trip down memory lane in the documentary as they reveal a photo album created by Princess Diana herself, also featuring iconic royal moments as well as never before seen photographs.

August will mark the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death at age of 36 in a Paris car crash. Princes William and Harry were just 15 and 12, respectively, when she died.

William said walking behind her coffin was “one of the hardest things I have ever done”. He has admitted he did not feel he could allow himself to be in “flood of tears” after her death and felt uncomfortable with the “massive outpouring of emotion” from the public.

But this year William has spoken about how his grief sparked a desire to campaign on mental health issues. He said: “I have my own reasons for being involved in mental health - what happened to me and my mother when I was younger. It all comes back down to mental health.”

Harry said he had “shut down all his emotions” for almost two decades after losing his mother, and finally sought professional help four years ago.

The royal brothers are also marking the 20th anniversary of their mother s death by commissioning a statue of Diana that will stand in the public gardens of Kensington Palace in London, abc News reported.

Kensington Palace is also home to a stunning memorial garden that opened in April to mark the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death and to honor her life.
