Lahore (Web Desk) - There was a time when most popular and famous people were radio artistes and then TV artistes, but with technology the trends changed and now social media also makes celebrities.
Twitter and Facebook are used by almost everyone and when something goes viral, it is seen and shared by everyone. Lets have a look at some people who became famous, popular through social media.
1. Qandeel Baloch
Qandeel Baloch was a model like many others but got very famous on social media after she started posting her videos. She used to upload videos about cricket matches/players, dubsmash, dialogues, others hot topics, even about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Her dance videos and her videos with Mufti Abdul Qavi made her a controversial personality and she got negative feedback due to that.
Qandeel Baloch received many negative comments but still everybody used to watch her videos and she also got hit on electronic media, appearing in many talk shows. She was eventually murdered by her brother due to some controversy but she is surely go down in history books as one of the biggest social media celebrities of Pakistan.
2. Chaye Wala
Arshad Khan Chaye wala was a tea seller in Islamabad and a local photographer Javeria Ali took her random photo. She did not even notice that she had taken an extra-ordinary photo and uploaded it on Instagram after some time. Someone posted that photo on Facebook and it got viral, as all girls were going crazy after blue-eyes boy.
Soon everyone was searching for Arshad and all news channels were waiting for their turn so that they could interview Arshad. His story was covered by all media channels, newspapers, websites throughout the world, making him famous all over the globe.
Arshad earned a modelling contract soon and his life changed 180 degrees in just few days, thanks to social media.
3. Hamza Ali Abbasi
Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi started from dramas and smaller roles in movies but he got most famous through Facebook, as he became one of the most knowned social media celebrities in Pakistan. He has more than 3 million likes on his Facebook page and has been part of many controversies.
Hamza is supported by many for his views and for showing his opinion regarding current affairs, religious matters and ongoing events but many criticise him for his posts at times. His posts were removed by Facebook at times and were also noticed by government but nothing seems to stop him and he is fastly approacing towards 4 million likes.

4. Zaid Ali Tahir
Zaid Ali Tahir is by far the most popular social media comedian in Pakistan as he makes people laugh with his hilarious style and jokes in videos. Zaid Ali has almost 5 million likes on his Facebook page and he has appeared in many talk shows, morning shows due to his popularity and fame.
His videos about the relation of children with mothers and fathers are especially loved by people of all age. His acting skills also make them special as he becomes his own mother and father in most of the videos.
5. Comics by Arslan- Arslan Naseer
Comics by Arslan by Arslan Naseer is another social media sensation, who makes people laugh with his cartoons and comics. Arslan has been working for a long time and makes videos as well. He has more than 1 million likes but more and more people are liking his page everyday.
