LOS ANGELES (AFP) - "Straight Outta Compton" reigned supreme at the North American box office for a third straight week, with another $13.1 million in ticket sales, industry figures showed Monday.
The biopic about pioneering rap group N.W.A. -- the surprise hit of the summer -- has so far raked in $134 million, according to box office tracker Exhibitor Relations.
Debuting in second place was Christian faith-based drama "War Room," about a couple s faltering marriage, which took in $11.4 million.
Knocked down to the number three spot was "Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation," the fifth installment of the heart-pounding Tom Cruise action franchise. The film brought in $8.2 million, bringing its total haul to $170.2 million.
Coming in fourth was "No Escape," an expat adventure film starring Owen Wilson as a father trying to save his family in the middle of a foreign country s political uprising. The film brought in $8.1 million on its opening weekend.
Horror flick "Sinister 2" -- about a child s nightly visitations from ghoulish kids -- was knocked down to the number five spot with $4.7 million.
"The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," a reboot of the 1960s TV spy series of the same name, fell to sixth on the list with $4.4 million in sales.
Video game-inspired action film "Hitman: Agent 47," about a genetically engineered killer, came in seventh at $4.2 million.
In eighth place was Marvel superhero flick "Ant-Man" with $3.1 million.
"Jurassic World" powered back into ninth place on the back of its re-release in IMAX theaters. The latest installment in the blockbuster dinosaur series took in $3.01 million, boosting its cumulative total to $643 million.
Psychological thriller "The Gift," starring Jason Bateman, rounded out the top 10 with just over $3 million.
