MIAMI (AFP) - Trial for pop music wild child Justin Bieber, accused of drag-racing while impaired on a Miami street, has been pushed back until next month, his attorney said on Wednesday.
Bieber s attorney Mark Shapiro said the judge agreed to a three-week postponement, setting a new hearing date early next month.
"This morning both sides asked for continuance," said his attorney Mark Shapiro.
"The court set the matter down for August 5," Shapiro said, adding that at that hearing, "we will inform the judge where we are, the status of the case, where the progress is at that point."
Reports say the two sides are in talks about a possible plea deal in the drag-racing case, one of a string of incidents in which the pop idol has been caught publicly acting out.
The formerly squeaky-clean Canadian was sentenced in Los Angeles last week to two years probation for egg-bombing his neighbors home.
Bieber, 20, was also ordered to perform community service, take part in an anger management program, and reimburse the owners of the vandalized home more than $80,000 in repairs.
Among his numerous other recent run-ins with the law, Bieber has a hearing pending in Canada into accusations he assaulted a limousine driver last year.
