Summary Following a petition, the Delhi High Court Wednesday expressed displeasure over Hindi film "Race 2".

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) The Delhi High Court Wednesday expressed displeasure over Hindi film "Race 2" following a petition that it showed nudity and vulgarity.

"Please think where the film industry is going. You are teaching indiscipline to children," a division bench of Chief Justice D. Murugesan and Justice V.K. Jain said.

They were hearing a PIL alleging that the film was vulgar and showed nude scenes. It sought a ban on the movie.

The court s observation came after the counsel appearing for the producers and director of "Race 2" said the Central Film Certification Board (CBFC) had already cleared its release.

The court sought response from the ministry of information and broadcasting, CBFC and Delhi government and posted the matter for Friday.

The petition was filed by social worker Teena Sharma.

The court had earlier directed the central government to consider the plea against "Race 2" and take appropriate action within a fortnight.

Sharma moved the court again after the government failed to act.

She said she was deeply hurt by the nude scenes and dialogues with double meaning after viewing the film in a theatre.

Challenging the UA certification given to the film, the plea said: "The film has been screened in 50 countries and it has been graded as an adult movie in 40 countries while here it had been granted U/A certification.

"The contents of the film are highly objectionable and therefore the film has got A certification for screening in the US and Britain."

The petition accused the movie of degrading women and displaying them as commodities.

UA certification is given to films which children above 12 years are allowed to see under parental guidance.

Aatma is all about family and fear Aatma blends supernatural with intense domestic emotions.

My character, Abhay, is like any father who loves his daughter. I said yes to this film because the story moves very naturally and is about emotional bonds; it s not a horror film with typical gimmicks. Only after I said yes did Suparn (Verma) reveal that Bipasha Basu was the heroine. For a moment, I stood dumbfounded and was like,  Oh, my God! Are you serious?  On the first day, I stood in awe of her. From her personality to her beauty, everything was endearing. She greeted me warmly and made me feel welcome. She told me,  Nawaz, I have totally surrendered myself to our mad director, so please be free with me . That helped me to take a step forward, as our scenes together are really intense. While doing scary scenes, you tend to ham, but Bipasha handled them perfectly without going overboard.

While shooting for this film, I realised that if it was so difficult to play a mother on screen, imagine being one in real life. Spending 10 hours on the set with a six-year-old (Doyel Dhawan) had its share of challenges. She would act only when she connected with you and would not put on an expression till she felt like. But by the end of it, Doyel and I bonded well. Also, it was challenging to play a feisty mother, who is dealing with a dysfunctional marriage. There is an emotional graph that will draw the audience and that makes this scary film stand apart.

I am very happy to be a part of this film. Bipasha didi is my favourite and I want to do more films with her.

Producer s note - Abhishek Pathak

We did not want to make a horror movie that would make the audience laugh. So, there is no in-your-face horror with ugly faces and hands, often seen in other films. Aatma sparks off fear, but in a subtle way and very realistically. We did not think twice before roping in a director of photography from Sweden and a gaffer from Germany to create maximum impact.

I have been fascinated by death ever since I lost my father as a child. Later, I happened to hear the story of Hollywood horror flick Evil Dead. But being too young, I was not allowed to watch it. A year later, when I watched it, I was zapped. I also watched ET and wondered if my father would return to earth in this form. Then I started reading Stephen King s novels and became his hardcore fan. From all this, I realised what our biggest fear is — the fear of losing our near and dear ones. And that is the basis of Aatma.

Behind-the-scene trivia Manoj Bajpayee was offered the cop s role in Aatma, but he was already committed to another film. So, he passed it on to JaideepAhlawat, who had played his father in a movie.

Bipasha broke down after shooting a very emotional domestic violence scene.

Bips changed her on-screen daughter s name from Priya to Nia. The latter is her niece s name and the actress felt that would help her bond better with Doyel.

For the first time in India, Dolby Atmos is being used in a horror film.

Abhay s character often made Nawaz think of his own daughter. He often worried how he would cope parting with her.

Kumar Mangat, producer, Abhishek and now Nawazuddin — three national award winners have come together for this film.
