LAHORE: Renowned actress Aasia who ruled Pakistan’s film industry for years, has died in Canada.

Aasia had shifted to America after her marriage.


She starred in several Urdu and Punjabi films, including the popular Punjabi film Maula Jutt.


The film actress, who was active in 1970s and 1980s in the film industry, played leading roles on many films.


She was born in 1951 in Indian Punjab but later migrated to Pakistan.


She made debut in the Pakistani film industry in 1970. She had acted in more than 179 Punjabi movies.


Her famous movies were Maula Jat, Insaan Aur Aadmi, Pyar He Pyar, Sehray Kay Phool, Jogi etc.
