Summary US has apologised to Indian Consulate over actor Shah Rukh Khan's detention at New York airport.
The apology came after India lodged strong protest over the incident.External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna had asked Indian envoy Nirupama Rao to lodge protest with the United Satates.Khan was stopped after his name popped up during immigration check at the airport. The Indian mission had no prior intimation of Khans visit.The Indian consulate in New York was informed about the actors detention and they interceded with the US State Department to secure his release.
