Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood can rock out with the best of them -- but he also wants to show that he can paint with the best, too.Wood is working is way to becoming a distinguished visual artist. He just opened a new exhibit of his art at a New York gallery.I get the occasional jealous person in the press that goes: Ronnie Wood thinks he can paint, blah blah blah. But you know, I dont have many critics. They have to own up that I can paint, because thats what I do, and I play guitar secondary. Thats the way I look at myself. I think I am a painter who plays guitar.Woods painting are often celebrity-focused. He uses himself as the subject, but has also painted the likes of Mick Jagger and Muhammad Ali among others.Wood said he always wanted to use his music to finance his art career.I thought, I can earn in one show with my unknown band more money in one evening than a whole month struggling drawing. So I thought, Ill make it as a musician first, and then show people that I can paint, he saidThe art exhibit is timed with Woods second induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14 for his other band, the Faces. He was previously honored in 1989 with the Rolling Stones.
