(Dunya News) – In the land of Balochistan, its intellectuals and academics hold a unique history in terms of their love for literature. Among those from the region who held literature close to their hearts was Gul Khan Nasir, honouring whom a library has been established in Nushki.

The Gul Khan Nasir library is giving ‘dowry’ a new meaning through a practice which involves gifting books to brides-to-be.
The library is not only a book-lovers paradise but also aims to offer the treasure of knowledge to new generations through its platform. One of the traditions of the library involves gifting books to local girls who are about to be married.

According to the library, the initiative aims to help girls and women as well as the coming generation develop love for books. Speaking to Dunya News, the staff at the library says that they help students and the youth connect with books.

The staff at the library works voluntarily and does not draw any salary from the library.
During the period between 2012 to 2015, the Gul Khan Nasir library was on the verge of closure. But local book lovers took it up as a challenge and now, through their efforts the library is able to sustain on its own.
