LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Saturday to have arrested two alleged terrorists including a Daesh leader who were planning activities in several cities. 

The CTD officials said they had thwarted a terrorism bid by arresting two suspects in Gujranwala and Rawalpindi. The alleged terrorists were arrested during intelligence-based operations (IBOs), said the officials.

According to the CTD officials, a Daesh commander, Essa, was arrested in Rawalpindi. 

The CTD spokesperson said explosive material, detonators and mobile phones were recovered from the suspects. They also claimed to have seized funds for the proscribed outfit. 

The other alleged terrorist was identified as Zakirullah. 

The spokesperson said the CTD conducted 369 combing operations, checked 13,871 people and arrested 52 of them during the last one week.
