Army called in as death toll from tribal clashes in KP's Kurram rises to 16
KURRAM (Dunya News) - An exchange of fire between two groups over a land dispute in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's (KP) Kurram on Tuesday claimed 10 more lives, taking the death toll to 16.
Keeping the situation in view, the army and the FC have been called in.
Reports said two groups, armed to teeth, exchanged fire and resorted to shelling over the simmering dispute which left 16 people dead and 50 others injured. The firing has been going on for last five days, starting in Boshehra Dandar, leaving people in the vicinity in a state of panic.
As many as 50 people were shifted to hospitals in the clash triggered by intense rivalry.
Federal Minister Sajid Toori said the tribes agreed to ceasefire but some insurgents had started the war again.
The clash between the two groups took place a few months ago as well and claimed 12 lives besides leading to injuries of many back then. The dispute exacerbated resulting in Saturday's clash which also proved fatal.
