Karachi police declared PTI leader's driver a robber

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Karachi police submitted challan in the court declaring Abbas the driver of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Laila Parveen, as a robber, who was killed during encounter in Defence area last year.

As per challan submitted in the court police maintained, on 27 November when the suspicious vehicle was signaled to stop, the accused escaped to a nearby bungalow. He then opened fire on the police party from the bungalow and in the crossfire five accused were injured and killed.

The four accused were identified as Abbas, Ghulam Mustafa, Muhammad Abid and Riaz. An accused who was critically injured could not reveal his name, said challan.

A 30-bore pistol was found in the hands of the slain suspects. Police said that allegations of attempted murder and illegal weapons possession are proven against the five accused, including driver Abbas.

Police submitted a report to proceed with ‘C’ class cases.
