FIA arrests ex-Sports Board director on embezzlement charges

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Thursday arrested a former director general of the Pakistan Sports Board on charges of corruption amounting to billions of rupees.
Akhtar Nawaz Ganjeera is accused of misusing his authority, awarding contracts to blue-eyed persons, and using substandard construction material in Narowal Sports City.
At least 2.5 billion rupees have been spent on the construction of Rs4 billion Narowal Sports City. Former planning minister Ahsan Iqbal had inaugurated the project prior to its completion.
