(Web Desk) – An Indian man shot dead his colleague for allegedly introducing him to smoking which led to his throat cancer later.
According to Hindustan Times, the accused man identified as Mustakeem Ahmad, a 25-year-old cook at a west Delhi restaurant, was arrested on Friday.
Ahmad told his interrogators that after his throat cancer diagnosis he was allegedly so consumed with hate and revenge towards the victim that he purchased a pistol and started practice how to fire the weapon in order not to miss his target.
The victim, Inayat was working in the same restaurant as Ahmad was. They were working at a restaurant in Uttam Nagar in west Delhi for the last 18 months.
“Though Ahmad and Inayat were friends at the workplace, Inayat was reportedly better at his job and well-behaved and soon became the favourite of the restaurant owner,” said Shibesh Singh, DCP (southwest). This frustrated Ahmad and he developed an enmity against Inayat.
Ahmad allegedly stated that he started smoking cigarettes and later took to marijuana under the influence of the victim, Inayat.

“In the course of time, Ahmad developed throat infection, forcing him to consult a doctor. Ahmad has claimed that the doctor told him he had developed throat cancer due to excessive smoking,” said the DCP.
Ahmad blamed the victim for getting him addicted to smoking which had led to his cancer.
Due to his poor performance Ahmad was laid down from his work.
Frustrated with the situation he went back to his native village in Amroha in Uttar Pradesh and acquired a country made pistol with some bullets.
“He first practised firing in his village, before returning to Delhi a few days ago,” said the DCP.
Ahmad visited the restaurant once again and asked the owner who was his brother-in-law to remove Inayat from work. But his brother-in-law refused to do so.
“He was carrying his loaded pistol to the restaurant and had planned to kill Inayat if he failed to get him fired from the job. That is what eventually happened. Ahmad ended up picking a fight with Inayat. He later shot at him in the middle of the argument,” said an investigator.
Inayat after getting shot was rushed to a hospital, but the 25-year-old surrendered to his injuries and died. Ahmad escaped after shooting the victim, according to the police.
A technical surveillance was soon launched by the police. The police received information on Ahmad that he was set to visit one of his relatives in Uttam Nagar to take some money before fleeing the city. He was arrested by the police after a chase.
