GUJRAT (Web Desk) – An innocent woman who self-immolated over ruthless decision of Gujrat‘s panchayat died at Lahore‘s Mayo Hospital on Friday.
In a statement to police officers, the deceased belonging to Dhalo West area said that she was married to Barnala’s Javed but acting on the decision of local panchayat, she was raped by another man Mohammad Bota and became pregnant.
The victim set herself ablaze to avoid pinching taunts of people after which she was shifted to Mayo Hospital in critical condition where she succumbed to the injuries.
Police detained suspect Mohammad Bota while eight to ten people of panchayat were also arrested for further probe.
Sub-Inspector Akhtar said that medical tests of both parties would be soon held.
Meanwhile, victim’s mother while pleading for justice from Chief Minsiter of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif alleged that her daughter was torched by her husband.
