PUEBLA (AFP) - A woman s body was found on Tuesday on a road in central Mexico and authorities fear that it belongs to a reporter who was kidnapped by an armed group.

The Puebla state prosecutor s office said the corpse "could be" that of Anabel Flores Salazar, a crime reporter for the newspaper El Sol de Orizaba in Veracruz state.

The statement did not say how the victim died. The body was found some 15 kilometers (nine miles) from the port city of Veracruz.

An armed group burst into Flores  home in the town of Mariano Escobedo before dawn on Monday and took her away, according to Veracruz state authorities.

Mexico is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists, with 89 media workers killed and another 17 missing since 2000, according to press freedom group Reporters Without Borders.
