NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clarified its stance based on the Indian government's policy about whether Indian team will travel to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, addressing India’s policy on playing against Pakistan, stated that the BCCI follows the directives of the central government. He said that India’s current policy does not prohibit participation in international tournaments. As far as the BCCI’s position is concerned, it must adhere to the decisions made by the central government.

Saikia further explained that the current policy does not restrict India from participating in any multilateral or international tournaments. The policy clearly states that there is no ban on playing against countries with which India does not have friendly relations.

The BCCI Secretary emphasised that India is required to play all matches in any multilateral tournament, such as the Asia Cup, which is a multi-nation event, and therefore, India will participate. Similarly, in ICC tournaments involving countries with which India does not have good relations, the team will still compete.

He added that when it comes to bilateral relations, India will not play against any hostile country. The BCCI is adhering to the policy set by the Indian government and the sports department, which applies not only to cricket but also to other sports.
