MULTAN (Dunya News) – Pakistan ended the opening day of the first Test against England at the Multan Cricket Stadium with a solid score of 328/4, thanks to brilliant centuries by captain Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique.

Pakistan's captain Shan Masood won the toss and opted to bat first.

Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub opened the innings for Pakistan, but Saim Ayub returned to the pavilion after scoring just 4 runs at a total of 8.

After Saim Ayub's early dismissal, Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood batted responsibly and took the score forward, with Shan Masood completing his century with 2 sixes and 10 fours.

Abdullah Shafique also scored a century before getting out for 102 runs. The partnership between the two was 253 runs.

Shortly after Abdullah Shafique's dismissal, captain Shan Masood was caught out for 151 runs with only 2 more runs added to the score.

Shortly before the end of the first day's play, Babar Azam was also dismissed for 30 runs. Saud Shakeel remains unbeaten on 35, and Naseem Shah is yet to score.

For England, Gus Atkinson took 2 wickets, while Chris Woakes claimed 1 wicket.

Pakistan will resume their innings tomorrow at 328 runs for 4 wickets.

Earlier, Shan Masood mentioned that they have two spinners and three fast bowlers in the team, and they want to get back on track by changing things up.

On the other hand, English captain Ollie Pope said they would have batted if they had won the toss.
