Pooran powers West Indies past Australia in ODI series
BRIDGETOWN (AFP) - Half-centuries by Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder guided the West Indies to a series-levelling four-wicket win over Australia in the second One-Day International of their three-match series at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.
Replying to the tourists total of 187 all out, Pooran s unbeaten 59 and 52 from former captain Holder lifted the home team from the discomfort of 72 for five with a 93-run partnership which tilted the balance of the match in their favour despite the threat of fast bowler Mitchell Starc who finished with three for 26.
Australia had slumped to 45 for six batting first but their lower order proved resilient with Wes Agar top-scoring with 41 at number ten in the batting order while Matthew Wade and Adam Zampa contributed 36 apiece. Spinner Akeal Hosein and seamer Alzarri Joseph took three wickets each for the West Indies.
