BCCI released A+ category of contracts for cricketers including Kohli, Dhawan, Kumar and Bumrah

(Web Desk) – Board of Control for Cricket in India released a new A+ category of contracts for cricketers to include Indian captain Virat Kohli along with Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.

However, the Indian board ignored former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the newly-introduced A+ category. Dhoni has been demoted to the second tier of the Annual Player Contracts for the period from October 2017 to September 2018. Dhoni has been moved to second tier Grade A, below Grade A+, in the new payment structure announced by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA).

Mohammed Shami’s contract has been withheld for the time being. His wife Hasin Jahan had accused him of torture and cheating.

BCCI has given Grade A contracts to seven players including Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Wriddhiman Saha.

The players in Grade A+ will be paid INR 7 crore each, while INR 5 crore will be paid to the Grade A players, reported Indian media. It is worth mentioning that the players with grade-A contracts in Pakistan -- including Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hafeez, Yasir Shah, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik and Azhar Ali -- get PKR 650,000 annually.
