PCB awards central contract to 35 players
Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal has been omitted from the central contract.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has Wednesday awarded central contracts to 35 players in four categories which will be in effect from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.
Pakistan skipper across all formats Sarfraz Ahmed, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hafeez, Yasir Shah, Shoaib Malik and Azhar Ali have been placed in Category A.
Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal has been omitted from the central contract, whereas, left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz and opener Ahmed Shehzad have been demoted to Category C. The dynamic left-handed batsman Fakhar Zaman is also awarded with the central contract over his wonderful performance in the ICC Champions Trophy, and has been placed in Category C.

“The Central Contracts were awarded after keeping in mind the performances, fitness, and discipline of the players. A number of young players have been awarded Central Contracts this year keeping in mind that the National Teams in all formats will be going through a transitionary period after a number of retirements from last year’s Central Contract List,” said PCB.
The monthly retainers for all categories have also been increased by 10% as the three-year understanding is reached with players and the PCB management.
The Central Contracts Selection Committee which recommended the names of players consists of Director Cricket Operations, Chairman National Selection Committee, and Pakistan Team Head Coach. The Central Contract Term has been approved by PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan.
It should be noted here that Indian skipper Virat Kohli earns INR 2 crore per anum whereas grade-A contracts of Pakistan get Rs 650,000, according to crictracker.

Category D (14 players)
Mohammad Nawaz, Asif Zakir, Usman Salahuddin, Amir Yamin, Usman Shinwari, Fahim Ashraf, Ruman Raees, Imamul Haq, Bilal Asif, Mir Hamza, Umer Amin, Mohammad Hasan, Mohammad Asghar and Mohammad Rizwan.
