Summary The Pakistani youngster admitted that Kohli is a great batsman while he is just a beginner as of now

(Web Desk) – Young Pakistani batsman Babar Azam broke ice on the matter of comparison with Indian maestro Virat Kohli, admitting he’s is just a beginner while Kohli has already established himself as one of the greatest batsmen.

He stressed his fans to call him ‘Babar Azam of Pakistan’ rather than Virat Kohli of Pakistan. In a tweet on Monday, he said, “There is no comparison. @imVkohli is a great batsman and I am just a beginner. But I would like to be recalled as Babar Azam of Pakistan :).”

The 22-year-old cousin of Akmal brothers has played only 31 ODIs in his career which started in 2016. With 1,455 runs, he has scored with an average of almost 54 with 5 hundreds and 6 fifties to his name. On the other hand, Kohli has played 189 ODIs, scored 8,257 runs at an average of 54.7 with 28 hundreds and 43 fifties. Babar Azam believes that he and Kohli are two different batsmen with their own styles.

Although the two have no comparison at this stage considering the difference of matches played, renowned cricket analysts like Ramiz Raja consider Azam as an emerging young talent who has the potential to reach the stature of Kohli. He once said the Pakistani cricketer is the only batsman in the lineup who can play from the Indian side.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam held an interactive session with his fans on Twitter with #AskBabarAzam. He called Shoaib Malik as the best all-rounder in the side, AB de Villiers and Hashim Abla as his current favourites, and made everyone emotional by telling he cannot live without his mother. He said Hasan Ali is the funniest man in the eleven currently.
