Indian top order fires as Pakistan chase 320 in rain-hit clash

Summary Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first.

BIRMINGHAM (Dunya News) – In the most awaited cricketing event of this year, the arch-rivals Pakistan and India are ready to lock horns with each other in the fourth match of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.

Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first on a good pitch that is unlikely to change much during the course of 100 overs. Match begins at 02:30 PM (PST).

India Innings:

Hasan Ali went for a boundary and a six in the second last over.

Hardik Pandya’s consecutive sixes of the first three balls and a boundary by Virat Kohli of the last ball resulted in 23 runs coming of the last over.

India conclude their innings at 319 for the loss of three wickets in the alloted 48 overs.

The substitute Fakhar Zaman dropped an easy catch of Virat Kohli on the last ball of 45th over.

Hasan Ali proved to be really expensive in 46th over as he went away for two boundaries and a huge six while conceding 21 runs.

Wahab also went for two boundaries and a maximum in the next over as Yuvraj completed his fifty of 30 balls.

The left arm pacer also left the ball as he got retired hurt.

India were 285 for the loss of two wickets after 46 overs.

Amir was retired hurt as he left the field and was replaced by Wahab Riaz.

Amir was brought to the attack by skipper. A slow ball from Amir was picked up by Youvraj as he swatted it away to the left of midwicket for four more.

Amir conceded 8 runs in 42nd over.

Hasan Ali continued from the other end as he got some punishment from Youvraj. First he hammered Hasan for a straight boundary and then a brilliant pull shot for a maximum.

India were 242 for the loss of two wickets after 43 overs.

Wahab was turning out to be a huge disappointment today as he went away for so many runs and was introduced yet again to the attack.

Wahab went for 7 runs as Youvraj hammered one of the last ball for four more.

Hasan was introduced to the attack again. Unluckily for Pakistan, an inside edge of Youvraj’ bat raced to the boundary for four more.

Hasan went for 9 runs in his over.

India were 222 for the loss of two wickets after 41 overs.

Youvraj came to bat as he played with a straight bat towards mid-on for four more. Wahab is giving away so many runs today.
India reached 200 in 38th over.

Shadab came to bowl his last over.

A very easy catch was dropped by Hasan Ali as Youvraj tried to play down the ground.

India were 206 for the loss of two wickets after 39 overs.


Rohit Sharma got run out as India lost its second wicket.


After the rain back it was the left arm fast Muhammad Amir who resumed bowling with Kohli and Sharma on the crease.

Amir conceded just one run in 34th over.

Shadab came to bowl from the other end as he conceded just 2 runs in 35th over.

Wahab was introduced again to the attack. Rohit played a glorious drive for four more followed by a beautifully played pull short for six.

Wahab went for 13 runs as he was introduced back.

India were 189 for 1 after 36 overs.


The play resumed again at Edgbaston however has been restricted to 48 overs a side. 


Kohli played a brilliant shot of Muhammad Amir towards backward point for four more. 

India were going good and great at the position as both the batsmwn seemed to be in good form.


Just when the first ball of 34th over was bowled, rain intercepted the play once again.


India were 173 for the loss of one wicket after 33.1 overs. 


 

Kohli came to bat as both the players were rotating the strike at regular intervals with not that much damage done.

Rohit was in mood to play a big innings today as the skipper decided to introduce Amir in the thirtieth over.

Amir bowled a brilliant over as just one run came of it.


India were 162 for the loss of one wicket after 30 overs.

India lost their first wicket as Dhawan in an effort to clear the boundary was caught just at the edge of the boundary.

Dhawan was caught Azhar Ali after scoring 68 runs.

India were 138 for the loss of one wicket after 25 overs.

Rohit Sharma reached to his fifty in style as he hit one down the ground towards midwicket for a huge six of Shadab’s bowling.

Indian openers had decided to cut loose as Dhawan joined the party in twentieth over while hitting back to back boundaries. 

Dhawan also reached to his fifty as Wahab conceded 15 runs in the twentieth over.

Dhawan yet again took charge as he thumped Shadab Khan for a huge six over midwicket.

India were 120 for no loss after 21 overs.

Wahab received some punishment in the sixteenth over as first it was Rohit Sharma who thumped him towards extra cover for a boundary and the same treatment was given on the last ball by Rohit Sharma.

Shadab Khan was introduced as he conceded 5 runs in his over.

Wahab came to bowl again as he bowled rather a good over this time and conceded just 3 runs.

India were 87 for no loss after 18 overs.

Hasan Ali wasn’t providing any width to the Indian batsmen as he conceded just four runs in thirteenth over.

The skipper opted to introduce Wahab to the attack as he replaces Imad Wasim to bowl the fourteenth over.

Wahab bowled with real pace as only three runs came of the fourteenth over.

Hasan Ali came to bowl the fifteenth over as once again he conceded just four runs in his over.

India were 66 for no loss after 15 overs.


Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed deep grief at the recent London attack while releasing a press release on their official website on Sunday morning.


Hasan Ali started to bowl the eleventh over as he bowled a no ball as the free hit was easily put away by Rohit Sharma towards the boundary for four more. India reached their fifty in 10.4 overs.

Meanwhile, Imad Wasim came to bowl his sixth over of the innings while conceding just three runs.

India were 55 for no loss after 12 overs.


Good news for diehards is that the play has resumed again at Edgbaston.


Rohit Sharma while flirting with an outside ball from Amir had a narrow escape as the ball kissed Azhar Ali’s fingers and raced away to third man boundary for four more.

Imad was as usual consistent in the next over.

Skipper introduced Hassan Ali in ninth over as Rohit Sharma pushed it beautifully towards backward point for four more.

India were 37 for no loss after nine overs.

Dhawan hammered a delivery from Imad towards square midwicket for four more.

India were 46 for no loss after 9.5 overs as rain interrupted the match at Edgbaston.



The skipper opted to pursue with Imad as he bowled with good line without providing any sort of width to the batsmen henceforth conceding just 4 runs in his second over.

The first boundary of the Indian innings came in Muhammad Amir’s over as Rohit placed it away brilliantly towards the fence for four more.

In the very next over, Rohit yet again took the charge as he punched a ball from Imad Wasim firmly towards cover for another boundary. 

After six overs, India were 21 for no loss.

It was an amazingly display of fast bowling in the very first over of the match by Amir as he bowled a maiden over.

Imad conceded 3 runs in the second over.

Amir bowled fast and furiously as he bowled yet another good over while conceding just two runs.

India were 5 for no loss after three overs.
