Summary Muhammad Amir and Rahat Ali took two wickets each whereas Yasir Shah remained wicketless

 MANCHESTER (Web Desk) - England finished the first day of second test at 314/4 against Pakistan as World No.1 test bowler Yasir Shah remained wicketless and conceded more than 100 runs.

English captain Alastair Cook won the toss and elected to bat first on batting friendly pitch. Pakistan got their first wicket when Muhammad Amir bowled Alex Hales in the seventh over. Hales scored 10 runs.

That was followed by 185 runs partnership between Cook and Joe Root, which was ended by Amir, who bowled Cook after the English skipper scored 105 runs.

Next two wickets were taken by Rahat Ali, who dismissed James Vince and Gary Ballance for 18 and 23 runs respectively. When the day ended, Root was not out on 141 whereas Chris Woakes was playing on 2.

Amir and Rahat took two wickets each whereas Yasir Shah and Wahab Riaz remained wicketless after bowling 31 and 16 overs respectively.
