Summary Second phase will focus on the 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz spectrum bands and will follow an assignment-based bidding process.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is set to conduct the second phase of the 5G spectrum auction tomorrow (Thursday), where telecom companies will compete to determine the positioning of the frequency bands they have already purchased.

Second phase of the 5G spectrum auction will focus on the 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz spectrum bands and will follow an assignment-based bidding process. Telecom operators will place bids for top, middle, or lower positions within these frequency ranges, which decide the placement of their allocated spectrum blocks.

According to the regulator, if the participating companies reach a mutual agreement on the positioning of their spectrum bands, the allocation will be finalized without the need for competitive bidding. However, if an agreement is not reached, the process will move forward through bidding.

The PTA has set an initial positioning fee of $100,000, which could increase to $1 million if the auction proceeds to a second round.
