DURBAN, South Africa, Dec 26, 2015 (AFP) - South Africa won the toss and sent England in to bat on the first day of the first Test at Kingsmead on Saturday.

Play was delayed by half an hour after overnight and early morning rain. Play was due to start under overcast skies, although the forecast was that the weather would clear.

South Africa opted to include a slow bowler in off-spinner Dane Piedt, with Kyle Abbott selected ahead of fellow seamer Kagiso Rabada.

England included debutant Alex Hales to open the batting with captain Alastair Cook.
