(Web Desk) -- Pakistan reached 297 for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs as the batting side upped the ante in the dying overs of the second ODI of Pak-Sri Lanka series on Wednesday.

Steady half century by Skipper Azhar Ali (79) at the start of the innings and brisk hitting by middle order batsmen Shoaib Malik and Muhammad Rizwan ensured that Pakistan got to a good fighting total before the overs dried up.

All rounder Anwar Ali also chipped in with a handy 29 off 20 balls to finish the innings on a high note.

Dropped catches were the order of the day as Sri Lankan side misfielded in the outfield in addition to dropping vital catches during crucial moments.

Sri Lanka now require 288 runs at run-rate of 5.74 per over.
