ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) - Opener David Warner added a half century to his first innings hundred to guide Australia to 139-1 at tea Friday and a 212-run lead over India on the fourth day of the first test.

Warner helped put Australia in a position to push for victory, reaching an unbeaten 69 by tea, sharing an unbroken 101-run stand with Shane Watson who was 33 not out.

Australia s bowlers earlier captured India s last five wickets for 75 runs in 19.4 overs during the morning session to end the tourists  first innings at 444 and to gain a 73-run first innings lead.

Warner was bowled by fast bowler Varun Aaron when on 66 but replays showed the bowler had over-stepped the popping crease by some distance, resulting in a no-ball.

Warner was initially more subdued than usual, as India s new ball bowlers maintained a tighter line, but they seldom troubled the batsman and stand-in captain Virat Kohli quickly turned to his spinners

The Australian batsman opened up as his confidence grew, hitting a six and seven fours. He used his feet expertly against the spinners, punishing any delivery which erred in line or length.

Karn Sharma had the only wicket, dismissing Chris Rogers for 21.

India will bat last on an Adelaide Oval pitch that usually favors bowlers on the fifth day and may pay for the failure of their middle and late order to capitalize on a relatively strong position at the start of Friday s play.

The tourists resumed at 369-5, trailing Australia by 148 runs but with the prospect of at least matching the home team s score on a still docile pitch.

Rohit Sharma was out for 43, after adding only 10 to his overnight score, and wicketkeeper Wriddhinam Saha fell at 25. Facing a rapid loss of prospective partners, Mohammed Shami hit out, making 34 off 24 balls including a six and three fours.
