Summary Resuming at 369-5 in reply to Australia's 517-7 declared, India lost its last 5 wickets for 75 runs.
ADELAIDE (AP) - Nathan Lyon took 5-134 as Australia quickly dismissed India s tail then reached 32-0, taking an overall lead of 105 runs at lunch Friday on the fourth day of the first test.
Resuming at 369-5 in reply to Australia s 517-7 declared, India lost its last five wickets for 75 runs in 19.4 overs to be out for 444, a first innings deficit of 73.
Lyon took three wickets Friday to complete his sixth five-wicket bag in tests.
While its top order produced a century to stand-in captain Virat Kohli and half centuries to Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, India s lower order faltered.
Rohit Sharma added 10 runs to his overnight score and was out for 43, wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha made 25 and Mohammed Shami took 34 from 24 balls.
Lyon dismissed both overnight batsmen, Rohit Sharma and Saha, and removed Ishant Sharma (0) .
Peter Siddle, who struggled to find a consistent line and length on the third day, was more effective against the tail, removing Karh Sharma (4) and Shami to finish with 2-88 from 18.4 overs.
Mitchell Johnson took 2-102 and Ryan Harris, who bowled with great control in his first test after an eight-month injury layoff, took 1-55.
Rohit Sharma and Saha offered India s best chance of substantially reducing Australia s first innings lead. But Sharma continued his struggle to establish himself in the Indian middle order, looking uncomfortable in the 11 overs he survived Friday before giving Lyon his first wicket of the day.
The batsman seemed unsure how to deal with a flighted delivery from Lyon, came down the pitch but checked his shot and provided an easy return catch to the bowler.
Karn Sharma was bowled by Siddle, losing his middle stump after playing across the line and Saha, who had survived a bouncer barrage from Mitchell Johnson before stumps on Thursday, was caught at slip by Watson off Lyon. Replays suggested the ball came off the pad rather than bat but the Decision Review System is not being used in this match at India s insistence.
Shami decided to go on the offensive with a dwindling supply of partners and hit three fours and a six befor being caught by Watson off Siddle to end the innings.
